We Print High-Quality,
Durable Menus

In most cases, a menu is manipulated by hundreds of people, from the waiters who pick them up from the tables to the customers who sit down every day. In addition, these types of products are exposed to get dirty easily since they are close to food and drinks, making them likely to get wet or dirty constantly. Thus, depending on the needs of your business, we can print menus in different materials.

Japan Printing & Graphics did an amazing job for my business. As a retail business owner, specializing in the sale of Native American artworks and jewelry, we needed to find a visual identity that elevated and upscaled our brand, but at the same time stay true to the “natural or organic” look Native retail brands can be associated with. We were interested in a particular look; organic textured paper or cardboard, with a copper metallic stamp of our logo. The final products came out great! We ordered business cards, apparel tags, necklace tags, earring tags and other items. One of their representatives, Marcela, did an amazing job explaining the options they had regarding textured papers, colors, metallic finishes, sizes, pricing etc. I think I knew this was the place to work with, when she took out a couple of BOOKS filled with paper samples . Options were almost limitless, but her guidance and expertise on printing service helped us decide quite efficiently and effortlessly. From a branding perspective, Japan Printing is able to deliver what you envision for your business or service. They helped upscale our products, because presentation matters. If you want to impact your customers with your brand, a clear image of who you are and what you stand for is needed, and Japan Printing can definitely help you out.

FAQs Postcards

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry.

We offer postcards in all sizes, but some custom sizes are not available for some finishes or papers. Our most requested postcard sizes are 5” x 7” and 4” x 6”

Our postcard thicknesses start at 10pt (80lb – 100lb and go up to 42pt. The thickness availability depends on the type of card you are printing. When dealing with postcards, it is important to consider that the thicker they are, the more boxes you will need to carry them and the more expensive they will be. For your reference: a credit card is 30pt thick.

When designing a postcard, we recommend you first pick the postcard style you would like to have and then design it based on that. We recommend this because some designs aren’t printable in some styles.

Another thing it’s essential to take into account is the bleeds. In printing, every design must have a bleed area to give printing machines room for error. In this area, you will find three mains sectors: bleed’s area, final (actual) size, and the safe zone. Anything in the bleed’s area is very unlikely to appear on the card. Anything in the final size is likely to be in the card, but there’s a chance it’s not. And finally, anything in the safe zone will definitely be on the postcard. If your design has text or anything that must be in the final product, make sure it is in the safe zone.

If we use the standard size of postcards in the USA (5 x 7 inches), the size with bleeds would be 5.125 x 7.125 inches. On the other hand, the safe zone would be the opposite, 4.875 x 6.875 inches.

Printers can print postcards with many different combinations, but not every combination is possible. Below is a list of the factors you can change on a postcard:

  • Straight or rounded corners.
  • Size.
  • CMYK printing.
  • Offset Pantone Printing.
  • Paper/Texture.
  • Single or double-sided.
  • Shapes.
  • Finishes: Spot UV, Painted Edges, Letterpress, Raised Ink, and more.

There are postcard papers that cannot have some finishes or even straight corners (like plastic postcards). So to avoid back and forth, we always recommend our clients to start by picking the finish they would like to have and then see what other features can be added to the postcards.

After 40 years of printing postcards in NYC and Japan, we have vast knowledge about what should be on a postcard. For us, the most important information would be the message, purpose, or service offered, phone number, email, and website(if you have one). For businesses like restaurants, retail stores, or such, adding the business’ address is also a good idea.

What you put on your postcard also depends on your industry and the postcards’ purpose. For example, if you need your postcards to attract customers, then adding information like coupons, offers, and services can be a good idea. Instead, if you need your postcards to be a way to give your information after meeting a client, then adding your contact information is more than enough. Of course, that would be considering you already shared with your client all the information you needed him to have.

Postcards are much more cost-effective when bought in larger quantities. So in many cases, the more postcards you print, the better it is. However, there are some reasons why you shouldn’t print too many postcards at once:

  • You’re planning to move soon. (You can also print postcards without a business address)
  • Your phone number or email address is going to be replaced for new information.
  • Your company is redesigning its corporate image.

Basically, if any information you have in your postcards is likely to change for something else, it is best to print a small quantity and then print postcards in a larger amount.

If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us at info@japanprint.com. Or call us at 212-406-2905.

Yes, you can print pictures on a postcard. However, there are some things you have to keep into account before doing it.

  • Pictures can only be printed using CMYK colors, not Pantone.
  • Some printing techniques require Pantone colors, like Raised Ink postcards, so it is not possible to apply thermography if there is a picture as the background of the postcards.
  • Any photo with less than 300 DPI will look blurry and bad overall, so it’s essential to ensure every image has a high-resolution quality before printing.
  • Pictures usually look best when there is little to no text on top of them. If you want to combine information with pictures, it is always best to ask a designer to give you professional advice on doing it.
  • Pictures look best in papers with high color-absorbing capabilities, like Mohawk Superfine Eggshell paper or 100% cotton papers.

Apart from that, if you need pictures printed on your card, we will make sure to give you the best recommendation!

If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us at info@japanprint.com. Or call us at 212-406-2905.

Yes, we can create your postcard design based on the reference you give us.

There is no limit on the colors you can add to a postcard. However, that depends on the ink you’re using. If the printer uses CMYK colors, there is no limit; but there is a limit if the printer uses Pantone colors.

In printing, there are two different ways to print: digital printing and offset printing. Digital printing uses CMYK colors, and since it is a digital printing technique, it can print as many colors as needed, although colors tend to vary in each set (not much, but they vary).

On the other side, we have offset printing. Here, printers need to prepare the inks manually (each Pantone color). This process creates limitations on the number of Pantone colors you can print on a single postcard, varying from one to five. Five being the maximum colors you could add to a postcard without making it unaffordable.

To give you an example of when to opt to use offset printing and not digital printing, we’ll use Coca-Cola as an example. Coca-Cola’s branding is exceptional, and one of the reasons it is like that is because they always use the same red color, no matter where you find it. To make sure their red color always looks the same, they use a Pantone color and print it in an offset printing machine; that way, there are little to no variations in how the color looks. If they used CMYK colors, variations would be more common.

To make the colors of your postcards always look the same, you have to use Pantone colors. If you also want your postcard colors to be the same as other printing materials you have. In that case, you can use the same Pantone color across other stationery you have, and the color will be the same.

If your company doesn’t have Pantone colors picked yet, feel free to visit us and choose one from our Pantone books. When picking Pantone colors, it is best to do it live because colors on a screen look very different from what they look in real life.

If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us at info@japanprint.com. Or call us at 212-406-2905.

Postcards can last years if they are taken care of properly. In our record books, we have 7-years-old postcards that still look great. There are two main reasons our postcards look so good after so many years. The first one is that our papers and inks are of the highest quality; the second one is that we carefully store them in a cold, dry place in plastic postcard slots.

However, we know that’s not the case for every business or person. When handling a postcard, the card mustn’t be dirty, bend, or anything like that. If you want your postcards to remain like new even after months or years, we recommend keeping them in a postcard holder.

Also, if durability is the most important postcard factor for you, plastic postcards might be your best option. Our recyclable plastic postcards can last long periods without losing quality at the same rate paper postcards do.

If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us at info@japanprint.com.

The main difference between standard postcards and premium postcards is that standard postcards are plain and don’t have features. In contrast, premium postcards have features like Spot UV, Thermography, Foil, and more. Premium postcards also use premium papers like suede.

Under the standard line, we offer postcards like 14pt uncoated, 16pt dull/matte postcards, and 16pt glossy postcards. Even though they are standard postcards, they still offer a high-quality presentation for their price; the only factor you would be losing when ordering these cards is that they won’t be significantly different. In case you need to print postcards in bulk, these cards are a great pick if you’re looking for the most cost-effective postcards possible without losing too much on quality.

It is our priority to create a pleasant and meaningful relationship with our customers. Whether utilizing one of our high-quality menus printing services, or one of our professional translation services, we invite you to put us to the test. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
